Focus
Prepare yourself to discern what is and what is not of God today. Still yourself so you can hear how God is calling you.
Read
Hebrews 10:16-25 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
“This is the covenant that I will make with them
after those days, says the Lord:
I will put my laws in their hearts,
and I will write them on their minds,”
he also adds,
“I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.”
Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin.
Therefore, my friends, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain (that is, through his flesh), and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us approach with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who has promised is faithful. And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Reflect
When I read this scripture, I am reminded of this past summer when we had a water park party in our backyard. The kids played all day with their friends, and by days end, they and our 90lbs dog where covered in mud. My wife loves the children, but they aren’t allowed into the house in the condition they were in. My wife is a very clean person, and her house is her sanctuary. Therefore, you must clean yourself of all dirt before entering. Its sure is a great thing that we have soap! I took a couple of bars of out to the kids, and still being in a playful mood, they helped lather each other up, and wash the dog. As soon as they were all cleaned up, they all ran into the house to my wife’s open arms.
This reminds me of God’s Kingdom. We can’t come into the Kingdom covered in sin, but we can cleanse ourselves with the Blood of Jesus shed on Calvary and enter in. Also, we need to use the children as an example of how we can help to wash each other clean with the blood of Jesus so we can one day all enter his Glory.
Pray
Thank you for all that you have given us, and what you have done through Jesus Christ. We come to you with a repentant heart in search of the cleansing through the blood of Jesus. Be with me in strength that I not only have the strength to face the evil in the world but to also keep an eye on my brother so that we may one day all be together in your Glory.
Go with God!
