Focus
Prepare yourself to discern what is and what is not of God today. Still yourself so you can hear how God is calling you.
Read
Psalm 81:1-3 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
To the leader: according to The Gittith. Of Asaph.
Sing aloud to God our strength;
shout for joy to the God of Jacob.
Raise a song, sound the tambourine,
the sweet lyre with the harp.
Blow the trumpet at the new moon,
at the full moon, on our festal day.
Reflect
My family is big sports fans. We love football, basketball, track and field, gymnastics, curling… you name it and we will watch it! Our hearts live and die with the Vanderbilt Commodores and Tennessee Titans, so we know all about “the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat!” My mother actually broke a lawn chair cheering at a softball game when I hit a triple to win a game. She could not contain her happiness when I slid into third base. What if we all shared the same joy when we sing praises to God or when we witness to others about the life God offers us? What if we jumped up and high-fived each other when we saw God moving in someone’s life? That might be a little extreme, but we are called to worship and praise God with joy in our hearts and we shouldn’t be afraid to show it.
Pray
Creator God, we love you so much! Give us the initiative to praise and worship you with the fire and energy you so deserve. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
Go with God!
