2 Timothy 1:3-7 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
I am grateful to God—whom I worship with a clear conscience, as my ancestors did—when I remember you constantly in my prayers night and day. Recalling your tears, I long to see you so that I may be filled with joy. I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that lived first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, lives in you. For this reason I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is within you through the laying on of my hands; for God did not give us a spirit of cowardice, but rather a spirit of power and of love and of self-discipline.
Reflect
Have you ever listened to a child tell their dream of becoming something great? They tell it with great passion and without one ounce of doubt. This is because when a child believes that they are good at something they run with it. Children set their hearts on becoming something and go after it. I believe God allows us to experience our gifts early in life, however, we grow older and allow fear to set in.
Let us use the gifts that God has given us. Sure we may have to go through somethings to use our gifts, but God did not give us a spirit of fear. This means that if God has given us the gift, he will always give us the strength, knowledge, and courage to bring the gifts to reality. Rather your gift is talking to people, taking care of people or even singing praises to God. No matter what gift you have God can bring it to life. We just have to ask God to lead us in the right direction, and to help us.
Remember we are never too old to use our gifts from God. The Lord has blessed each of us with certain gifts, and our gifts from God last a lifetime.
Pray
Dear God thank you for your word today. Thank you for reminding us that we all have a gift from you. Grant us the courage to use our gifts that you have blessed us with. And we will be careful to give you the praise, glory and honor. In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit Amen.
Go with God!
