Psalm 139:1-6
Reflect
This Psalm of David would make for a good Anniversary card. Many long-time married couples could exchange a card with such a sentiment. My husband and I certainly could. He pretty much has me pegged, especially when it comes to “lying down.” My innate sense just tells me it is 9:30 p.m. without even looking at a clock. Time for bed, get out of my way, and everyone knows it.
But no matter how well we think we know each other, or even ourselves, God knows us better. God, the one who formed us, knows all about us. There are so many verses to confirm this, David alone wrote many Psalms about it.
But do you ever wonder? There are so many people on earth, past and present. How does God know everything about me? How does he know MY thoughts and YOUR thoughts at the same time? How does he have every hair on our head counted (Luke 12:7) – especially if they keep falling out? But notice, after giving glory to the Sovereign God for his unfailing care and protection, David admits it is just too much for him to understand. If David, who was a man after God’s own heart, didn’t understand, I sure don’t understand. All you and I can do is trust and have faith that the All Powerful, All Knowing God does know us, cares for us and protects us.
Pray
God, you created us, you know our thoughts, our strengths, and weakness, and still, you love us. Thank you God for your unending love and grace. Help us to display this same characteristic to all we encounter.
Go with God!
