2 Corinthians 4:16-18 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
So we do not lose heart. Even though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed day by day. For this slight momentary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure, because we look not at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen; for what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal.
Reflect
Troubles can seem never-ending. As a matter of fact, they can consume us to the point where our hearts are full of discouragement, disappointment, and disarray. When our hearts are full of these negative states, then we cannot see clearly.
The Apostle Paul through the Holy Spirit tells us not to lose heart. Well, that is easier said than done, but he also tells us how we do that! “We look not at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen; for what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:18.
When we read God’s Word, are in fellowship with God and other believers, our focus on eternity is stronger. We can see that we are just passing through this world and that we have a home waiting on us. This home is a place where there will be no more sorrow, no more tears, no more heartache and no more sin! We have a home that is full of God’s goodness without evil being present! And because of this focus, we can stand on the promises of God with great confidence and great trust! WOW GOD!
Lift your heads, Brothers and Sisters in Christ! We serve a wonderful God who gives good and perfect gifts that help us see that these troubles are temporary! What we have coming far outweighs them all! Thanks be to our Great God!
Pray
“Eternal God, who is unchanging, help us stay focused on You and the blessings of knowing You! Help us to see that these troubles will soon be over, and we will live forever! Thank You, Lord, for loving us! In Jesus Name, Amen.”
Go with God!
