Matthew 3:1-3 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
In those days John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness of Judea, proclaiming, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” This is the one of whom the prophet Isaiah spoke when he said,
“The voice of one crying out in the wilderness:
‘Prepare the way of the Lord,
make his paths straight.’”
Reflect
As we begin preparations for Christmas, let us go out and prepare the way for the Lord to come as well! As John announced the coming King in today’s scripture, we should do the same – whether it be at work, at school, with family and friends – even while we are out shopping for the holidays. There are always opportunities to tell others about our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ, and the Good News He brings to the world.
As we continue our journey to Bethlehem, may we each make straight the road and the way so that others will see God come into our world as an infant – in order to have fellowship with us.
Prepare your hearts! Jesus is coming!
Pray
We thank you, Almighty God, for recognizing the need for a Savior. We thank you, Almighty God, for sending Your Son to be that Savior – our Savior. May we be diligent in preparing the way and to celebrate the greatest life ever lived. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen!
Go with God!
