Hebrews 9:11-14 (NRSV)
But when Christ came as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and perfect tent (not made with hands, that is, not of this creation), he entered once for all into the Holy Place, not with the blood of goats and calves, but with his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption. For if the blood of goats and bulls, with the sprinkling of the ashes of a heifer, sanctifies those who have been defiled so that their flesh is purified, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to worship the living God!
Reflect
My Sunday school class has spent the last 10 months studying the book of Exodus, verse by verse. The requirements the Israelites went through seem overwhelming to us as we study them; the many festivals, the minute details of the Tabernacle and how it should be assembled and dissembled when God moved them throughout the wilderness. The various offerings required for the forgiveness of sins are confusing to us.
These rituals were replaced when God gave us a plan offering salvation for all who accept.
God gave Jesus to take human form, die on the cross for us and be resurrected so we have only to accept the precious gift of life everlasting.
Pray
Thank you God, for sending your son to be the way, the truth, and giving us eternal life. Amen.
Go with God!
