Psalm 111 (NRSV)
Praise the LORD!
I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart,
in the company of the upright, in the congregation.
Great are the works of the LORD,
studied by all who delight in them.
Full of honor and majesty is his work,
and his righteousness endures forever.
He has gained renown by his wonderful deeds;
the LORD is gracious and merciful.
He provides food for those who fear him;
he is ever mindful of his covenant.
He has shown his people the power of his works,
in giving them the heritage of the nations.
The works of his hands are faithful and just;
all his precepts are trustworthy.
They are established forever and ever,
to be performed with faithfulness and uprightness.
He sent redemption to his people;
he has commanded his covenant forever.
Holy and awesome is his name.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom;
all those who practice it have a good understanding.
His praise endures forever.
Reflect
Praise the Lord and give thanks. I sit and wonder, how do I praise God? I tell others how blessed I am, and acknowledge that it is all given by God! How can I not praise God, for I am wonderfully made and God provides my every need and the desires of my heart. We take for granted our heartbeats, breathing, seeing, hearing, and smelling. How many heartbeats have I enjoyed in my 70 years? How many sunrises and sunsets have I stood in wonder to see with my eyes? How many times have I heard the songs of birds and the babbling brooks? Praise the Creator, the God of us all. For great are the works of God, the majesty of God’s creation!
Thank You! Thank You! Thank You, O Lord! Thank you for daily bread. Thank you for clothes to wear, food to eat, air to breathe. Thank you for friends to fellowship with, sanctuaries where we can worship freely and openly. Holy and awesome is God’s name. May your name be glorified and your praise endure FOREVER!
Pray
Lord, I praise you for all things. Even though I may not always see the good in things, I know that you are there leading, carrying, and sustaining me at all times. Thank you for your watchful care over me and your boundless provisions. Thank You, Amen.
