Focus
Slow your breathing and become aware of the taking in and letting out of your breath. Focus on putting things aside so you will be open to what God is saying to you today.

Psalm 93 (NRSV)
The LORD is king, he is robed in majesty;
the LORD is robed, he is girded with strength.
He has established the world; it shall never be moved;
your throne is established from of old;
you are from everlasting.
The floods have lifted up, O LORD,
the floods have lifted up their voice;
the floods lift up their roaring.
More majestic than the thunders of mighty waters,
more majestic than the waves of the sea,
majestic on high is the LORD!
Your decrees are very sure;
holiness befits your house,
O LORD, forevermore.
Reflect
Is the majesty of God something on which you dwell when you think of God? Maybe, maybe not. Christians are used to the image of Jesus, the humble carpenter. Our Savior wasn’t bombastic or showy, in fact, quite the opposite. Only in a few instances was it recorded that he raised his voice in righteous fury so no, we probably don’t initially think in terms of majesty when we think of Jesus. However, he is an inextricable part of the Godhead—the three-in-one—and, therefore, endowed with the majesty and grandeur portrayed by the Old Testament writer of this psalm.
As I write this eVotion, I’m sitting on a picnic bench beside a lovely little lake enjoying the sunshine of a pleasant spring afternoon. For me, I feel the presence of God when I’m outdoors in nature. This lake and the gusting winds playing over the water give me a mental picture of the breath of God that breathed life into all things. I’ve climbed to the tops of mountains and looked out over a panorama of beauty that can take my breath away. I stand in awe of a Creator who provided such beauty for us.
There are times we need to get in touch with that side of God. We need to remember the awesome power and eternal nature of God. Sometimes we need to dwell on our place in the universe and see God as the beginning and the end of all things—the Alpha and the Omega.
Right now, I’m listening to the waves crashing into the shoreline, kicked up by the wind. How much more impressive are the words from this psalm: “More majestic than the thunders of mighty waters, more majestic than the waves of the sea, majestic on high is the LORD!”
Pray
Dear Lord, most holy one, creator of heaven and earth, we are but a small part of your wonderful creation and not worthy to be in your presence. Thank you for the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ and for allowing us to partake of your majesty through nature. Help us to remember to find you wherever we are and to give you praise always. Amen.
Go with God.
