Psalm 119:121-128 (NRSV)
I have done what is just and right;
do not leave me to my oppressors.
Guarantee your servant’s well-being;
do not let the godless oppress me.
My eyes fail from watching for your salvation,
and for the fulfillment of your righteous promise.
Deal with your servant according to your steadfast love,
and teach me your statutes.
I am your servant; give me understanding,
so that I may know your decrees.
It is time for the LORD to act,
for your law has been broken.
Truly I love your commandments
more than gold, more than fine gold.
Truly I direct my steps by all your precepts;
I hate every false way.
Reflect
The world has conditioned humans to believe that if we act a certain way or do specific things, there will be a certain outcome. Sometimes I catch myself thinking that having a relationship with God will automatically make everything bad in my life go away. Poof! Just like that! But it does not: unfortunate events still happen. I do my best to follow God’s commandments; I do what I believe is just and right; and I pray, but unpleasant things still happen. I have bad days, unfortunate events happen in the world that depress me, difficult things happen to me or to my loved ones. It is so important to keep reminding myself of God’s love so that I do not become discouraged. These unfortunate events are merely trials in life to help me become a better person, a stronger warrior in God’s army.
We must remember to pray all the time. Open your heart to God. Pray for understanding and knowledge so that you will not also be struggling in with your relationship with God. God wants to stand beside you during your life struggles and help you through them.
Pray
Dear Lord, help me to continue doing what is right. Help me not to become discouraged during the hard times in my life and to continue to have faith in you and your love. I pray for understanding and guidance. In your precious name I pray, Amen.
Go with God.
