Focus
Slow your breathing and become aware of the taking in and letting out of your breath. Focus on putting things aside so you will be open to what God is saying to you today.

Luke 10:21-24 (NRSV)
At that same hour Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”
Then turning to the disciples, Jesus said to them privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see! For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, but did not see it, and to hear what you hear, but did not hear it.”
Reflect
I am grateful to have the opportunity to spend quality time with my young niece and nephew. Recently, I started helping them to memorize passages from the Bible. After breaking longer passages into short phrases and repeating these phrases over and over, the children experience a great sense of accomplishment as they discover they have memorized the verses.
After learning the first verse of Psalm 100, my nephew asked, “Do you think God is proud of us for doing this?”
“Absolutely,” I replied as I gave him a high-five.
Just as Jesus was proud of the seventy-two followers he sent out to spread his word, he is also proud of us when we spend time spreading his gospel and teaching his word. I believe Jesus takes great pleasure in his followers. He continues to send us out into the world today to be witnesses to those who, like little children, are willing to know him.
Pray
Lord, help us to follow in the footsteps of your disciples. Help us to be like children in our willingness to please you and do your will. Amen.
Go with God.
