The LORD is king, he is robed in majesty;
the LORD is robed, he is girded with strength.
He has established the world; it shall never be moved;
your throne is established from of old;

The floods have lifted up, O LORD,

More majestic than the thunders of mighty waters,
more majestic than the waves of the sea,
majestic on high is the LORD!

Your decrees are very sure;
holiness befits your house,

Reflect

When I read this scripture, I am taken back in time to August 1974, when my parents loaded our family into a truck camper and took us to Alaska for five weeks. I was almost 7 years old and going into the first grade. In the 1970s the Alaskan Pipeline was a big thing. Virtually all other areas were untouched. The forests were dense, the mountains huge. The human population was minimal while the animals roamed freely.

I remember a day trip to visit Mt. McKinley. As we rode along the gravel, pot hole ridden road in a school bus, I could look out of the windows on both sides. As the bus climbed the mountain, we saw bears and mountain goats, beautiful trees, and many more of God’s wondrous works of nature. When we finally reached our destination, we looked out across the valley. Mountain peaks—untouched, rugged, and naked—stood majestically before us. They would not be moved by any human force. I was in awe of the mighty works before me.

Christ’s kingdom is the same. I am in awe of the mighty acts of God. The kingdom of God is forever mighty and true. It will stand majestically forever.

Great and mighty God, how awesome are your works! Thank you for giving us eyes to see and ears to hear the beauty of your Kingdom.
