Prepare yourself to discern what is and what is not of God today. Still yourself so you can hear how God is calling you.

Psalm 2 (NRSV)
Why do the nations conspire,
and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers take counsel together,
against the LORD and his anointed, saying,
“Let us burst their bonds asunder,
and cast their cords from us.”
He who sits in the heavens laughs;
the LORD has them in derision.
Then he will speak to them in his wrath,
and terrify them in his fury, saying,
“I have set my king on Zion, my holy hill.”
I will tell of the decree of the LORD:
He said to me, “You are my son;
today I have begotten you.
Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage,
and the ends of the earth your possession.
You shall break them with a rod of iron,
and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.”
Now therefore, O kings, be wise;
be warned, O rulers of the earth.
Serve the LORD with fear,
with trembling kiss his feet,
or he will be angry, and you will perish in the way;
for his wrath is quickly kindled.
Happy are all who take refuge in him.
Reflect
Humankind has been in rebellion against God almost since “in the beginning.” We like things to be our way. We surely do not like to yield our will to God. So we rebel. We go our own way—even when we know it is not going to end well.
Despite all of our efforts, God is still in control. God is still the sovereign Lord of all things. I do not doubt that God laughs at our feeble attempts to rebel. God has not given up on us. We are called to humble ourselves. Not exactly a fun thing to do, but something we must do to live in God’s will.
In spite of our attempts to rebel against God, we are still invited to come and embrace God. Will you come to God today?
Pray
Almighty God, forgive us when we sin against you with our rebellion. Thank you for not giving up on us. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.
Go with God.
