Focus
As you quiet yourself for this brief time, be willing to be open to God in whatever way that may take place.

Luke 6:1-5 (NRSV)
One sabbath while Jesus was going through the grainfields, his disciples plucked some heads of grain, rubbed them in their hands, and ate them. But some of the Pharisees said, “Why are you doing what is not lawful on the sabbath?” Jesus answered, “Have you not read what David did when he and his companions were hungry? He entered the house of God and took and ate the bread of the Presence, which it is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and gave some to his companions?” Then he said to them, “The Son of Man is lord of the sabbath.”
Reflect
I have worked with youth from the time I was in my early twenties. Usually the only day I had available was Sunday, the sabbath. The youth and I would get together for a time of study and then go outside to play football, basketball, or other games. We just enjoyed spending time together.
One Sunday a member of our church drove by and saw about 25 young people “desecrating” the church lawn with a fun activity “on a Sunday!” How odd it seems that this was wrong in her eyes. It is my thought that we should let the Lord be the judge of how the sabbath day is used.
Pray
Dear God, we are judgmental when we should be uplifting; we are jealous when we should be helping. Please show us your way. Amen.
Go with God.
