Make a joyful noise to God, all the earth;
sing the glory of his name;
give to him glorious praise.
Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds!
Because of your great power, your enemies cringe before you.
All the earth worships you;
they sing praises to you,
sing praises to your name.” Selah

Come and see what God has done:
he is awesome in his deeds among mortals.
He turned the sea into dry land;
they passed through the river on foot.
There we rejoiced in him,
who rules by his might forever,
whose eyes keep watch on the nations—
let the rebellious not exalt themselves. Selah

Bless our God, O peoples,
let the sound of his praise be heard,
who has kept us among the living,
and has not let our feet slip.

Reflect

Overcome by the evidence of God’s power and love, the psalmist invites us to “Come and see what God has done!” At the beginning of Jesus’ ministry, a fisherman named Andrew was a follower of John the Baptist. When John declared Jesus to be “the Lamb of God,” Andrew went to Jesus and asked where he was staying. Jesus said, “Come and see.” At the end of the day, convinced that Jesus was the Messiah, Andrew hurried to share the news with his brother Simon (John 1:35-41).

At a well in Samaria, Jesus spoke with a woman who became convinced that she had met the Messiah. Her response was to run home and tell everyone, “Come and see!” (John 4:29)

When we encounter Jesus, how do we respond? A few minutes before class started one spring day, a soft drink company set up a booth on campus and began giving away free samples. I knew this because cell phones lit up across the classroom. Friends of my students couldn’t wait to share with them the good news. We have the great good news of forgiveness and eternal life through Jesus Christ. Should we not also be eager to proclaim, “Come and see!” to all who will listen?
