Luke 12:29-32 (NRSV)
And do not keep striving for what you are to eat and what you are to drink, and do not keep worrying. For it is the nations of the world that strive after all these things, and your Father knows that you need them. Instead, strive for his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.
“Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Reflect
Have you ever been in a situation where something going on in your life was consuming your mind? Have you ever had a time where you didn’t know how you were going to provide for your family or you were mystified as to how you would pay the bill that was due? I’m guessing many of us have been there. I think we call this life.
Most of us have heard our parents or other adults tell stories of when they were so poor that they had to do a little bit of everything just to survive. My youth pastor told about a couple of times that he left for work knowing his family was out of baby formula or diapers, but he didn’t have money to buy any. When he got to his office, a container of formula was sitting on his desk.
As hard as it is, try not to worry today. Have faith that God is going to provide for your essential needs some way, some how. Remember verse 32: “Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”
Pray
God, today I’m putting it all in your hands. You know my needs. Help me to sit back, relax, and trust in your ways. Amen.
Go with God.
