Psalm 126 (NRSV)
When the LORD restored the fortunes of Zion,
we were like those who dream.
Then our mouth was filled with laughter,
and our tongue with shouts of joy;
then it was said among the nations,
“The LORD has done great things for them.”
The LORD has done great things for us,
and we rejoiced.
Restore our fortunes, O LORD,
like the watercourses in the Negeb.
May those who sow in tears
reap with shouts of joy.
Those who go out weeping,
bearing the seed for sowing,
shall come home with shouts of joy,
carrying their sheaves.
Reflect
We all have dreams from which we don’t want to awaken. It’s sad to see something so wonderful come to an end. But imagine waking up to find that the dream had become your reality.
Israel’s dream came true when God restored the fortunes of the people who had been living in exile. God turns our dreams into reality by loving and caring for us unconditionally. We have all of the love and care we could ever need. We just need to embrace it and show the world what God has given us.
Pray
God, thank you for your love, comfort, and strength—and the joy you give us. Help us to share these gifts with others. Amen.
Go with God.
