Focus
Prepare yourself to discern what is and what is not of God today. Still yourself so you can hear how God is calling you.

Acts 10:9 (NRSV)
About noon the next day, as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray.
Reflect
It seems that people are busier than ever, especially those who have school-aged children. People go to work every day and the children have school. Then there are the after-school functions, such as Scouts, sports games and practices, dance, music lessons, play practice, youth group, etc. Somewhere in all this going hither and yon, Mom and/or Dad makes dinner, dinner must be eaten and cleaned up, homework done, baths taken, and bed. Then parents clean house, do laundry, pay bills, balance checkbooks…and the list goes on. Somewhere, in all that busyness, parents are supposed to carve out quality time to spend with their children and maybe squeeze in a little time for each other and themselves.
In all the hustle and bustle of daily living, people tend to forget that spending time alone with God is the only way they can remain focused on the things that matter. A few minutes each day spent in prayer, study, and/or meditation can mean the difference between a day like all the rest and a day with meaning and purpose.
Peter was a busy man, too. He took seriously the directive from Jesus to go and make disciples. He spent his life doing just that, but he took the time to pray about his ministry and pray for God’s intercession and discernment. As busy as our lives are, it is imperative for our spiritual wellbeing to make time for God.
Pray
Creator God, today we ask you to help us focus on those things that bring glory to you. We want to do your will, and we ask for help in finding that one-on-one time that we need to renew ourselves for your purpose. We give everything to you, God. Amen.
Go with God.
