South Pittsburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church (Tennessee-Georgia Presbytery) is planning a celebration July 15, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the pavilion in Church Hollow near the Cumberland Presbyterian Birthplace Shrine in the bounds of Montgomery Bell State Park near Dickson, Tennessee. There, on February 4, 1810, three disaffected Presbyterian ministers came together to reconstitute Cumberland Presbytery which was the basis for the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Everyone interested is invited to attend.
Musicians Joe Herran and Steve Yantis will join with South Pittsburg CPC to celebrate our denominational founding with their unique Gospel guitar sound. The Reverend Kriss McGowan will conduct the service. Prior to the service, the group will lunch at the restaurant in the Montgomery Bell State Park lodge. Herran and Yantis’ album, Hymns and Guitars is available for purchase online.
