Carol, known to some as Clara, was born in San Francisco, California, and grew up in the Chinese Cumberland Presbyterian Church (Presbytery del Cristo) where she eventually led the only Chinese Girl Scout Troop in San Francisco.

Charline Elizabeth Needham, 91, a member of Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church (Presbytery of East Tennessee), died January 20, 2021. She wrote a history of Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church and its families which was published to celebrate the church’s 150th anniversary in 2009. She was a notable genealogist and helped many people research their family histories.
