Jim Scruggs, 88, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, died December 3, 2021. He was born April 15, 1933, to Elmer H. and Nora L. Scruggs. A member of the “Telephone Pioneers,” Jim was retired from South Central Bell. He was an elder at Flat Lick Cumberland Presbyterian Church (Covenant Presbytery) and had served in the U.S. Army.

December 4, 2021, Missions Ministry Team staff and representatives from the Grace Presbytery Board of Missions participated in the first meeting of the Latino Council of Cumberland Presbyterian Churches in Florida at Iglesia Presbiteriana Cumberland El Camino in Miami. This is the first Latino council of Cumberland Presbyterian Churches in the USA.  

William Lane Smith Jr., 71, an elder at Mount Cumberland Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America in Athens, Alabama, died November 27, 2021. William was also a member of the choir.

Dorman Jernigan, 83, of Paducah, Kentucky, well known as “DJ,” died December 1, 2021. DJ  was a member of the Grace Covenant Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Paducah (Covenant Presbytery),  formerly Margaret Hank Memorial Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder.
