Carlton J. Bowden, 90, of Russellville, Arkansas, an elder at Mt. Carmel Cumberland Presbyterian Church (Arkansas Presbytery) who was quite active at the presbyterial and denominational levels died December 7, 2020. The son of Finis and Naomi Mullins Bowden, Carlton was born February 6, 1930, in Gumlog, Arkansas. Carlton graduated in 1948 from Dover, Arkansas, High school as valedictorian and attended Arkansas Tech University. He married Helen Pless, on October 1, 1954, in Dover.

Before middle judicatory realignment in 1988/1989, Carlton served as Stated Clerk of Ewing-Burrow Presbytery for 23 years. He was an elder at Mt. Carmel for over 60 years, treasurer for over 40 years, and a lay speaker in the Cumberland Presbyterian denomination for over 55 years.
