Bethel University October 26, 2022: Dr. Delecia Parker has been named the director of nursing at Bethel
University.
“Dr. Parker has been so important to our program,” said Dr. Walter Butler, president of Bethel
University. “Her love for the nursing profession is so evident as she helps the profession grow
through our students.”
Parker has been a faculty member with the program since 2011 and has been serving as the
interim director of the nursing program. She holds a doctorate of nursing practice with an
executive leadership emphasis from Union University and both her bachelor and master’s
degrees from Florida State. She currently resides in Lexington with her husband.
“My goal as the director of nursing at Bethel University is to lead the faculty to educate our
students to care for each other, patients, and the communities they serve with compassion,
empathy,” said Parker.
She believes that by expecting all Bethel nursing students and graduates to uphold the mission of
the College and Health Sciences and exemplify Christian values, graduates will achieve both
personal and professional success.
“Dr. Parker has been able to make a seamless transition into her role as program director,” said
Dr. Joseph Hames, vice president for the College of Health Sciences. “She brings a wealth of
experience to the position and truly loves Bethel, the nursing profession, the students and the
Lord Jesus. I have complete confidence in her ability to lead the nursing program.”
