Trevor Martin Scott, a senior at Tennessee’s South Gibson High School, is the 2023 winner of the Hendrix Scholarship at Bethel University in McKenzie, Tennessee. The runner-up is Raanan Sellers, a senior at Obion County High School, also in Tennessee.
The scholarship is the top academic scholarship awarded annually and provides the winner with a four-year full scholarship covering tuition, fees, room and board at Bethel. The runner-up receives a four-year scholarship covering tuition and fees.
The Hendrix Scholarship recipients were selected through a competition in which fifteen scholars participated. Competitors must be high school seniors with a minimum 3.25 grade point average and at least a 23 ACT score or 1130 SAT score to qualify. During the two-day on-campus contest, each student participates in an essay contest, an academic exam, and an interview.
