Barton Joseph “Bart” Williams, 64, died on August 13, 2020, in Dyersburg, Tennessee. He was an active member of the Newbern Cumberland Presbyterian Church (West Tennessee Presbytery).

According to the Dyersburg State Gazette, “for the past forty years, Bart Williams, or “Mr. Bart” as he is best known around town, has been a fixture of the Dyer County community. From his work in Dyer County and Dyersburg City Schools to his involvement with numerous community organizations to his service as an alderman, there are few who have not been impacted by Mr. Bart.”

Bart was born on September 4, 1955, in Greenville, Ohio, to Ardyce and Jack Williams. He began his teaching career in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1977, but moved with wife Marianna “Molly” to Dyersburg in 1980. Bart held numerous teaching positions in Dyersburg. He had been a guidance counselor at Dyersburg Intermediate School for 27 years.
