The Missions Ministry Team is thrilled to announce the endorsement of a new Cumberland Presbyterian (CP) missionary, Rev. Kim Moore. Rev. Moore is currently the pastor of Mt. Sharon CP Church (Nashville Presbytery). Kim has completed an extensive application process and been endorsed by the Missions Ministry Team (MMT) of the Ministry Council. She will be serving the CP Church in Haiti.
Rev. Moore is an ordained CP minister and a graduate of Memphis Theological Seminary. In addition, she is a nurse with a master’s degree. She has years of experience in nursing, supervising, managing, and training healthcare professionals. Rev. Moore left the nursing profession to be a full-time CP minister. She understands Haiti’s challenges, having made various short-term trips to serve on mission teams.
Later this year, Rev. Moore will visit CP churches in the US to talk about her call to missions and the ministry she will have in Haiti. The goal is to deploy her to Haiti in September 2023. However, Haiti is a challenging country in which to live. The MMT and Rev. Moore are monitoring the situation and will be flexible as to her deployment. We all feel there needs to be a level of stability and safety where she will be working before she moves to Haiti. The CP work in Haiti is not in the major cities of Haiti, but in rural areas. Those areas have not been as affected by gangs and violence as the cities. She will be working with all six CP churches, the pastors, and the Council of CP Churches in Haiti. All of these churches have different community outreach ministries in addition to their church. She will provide encouragement and guidance to these programs and churches.
We ask all to pray for Rev. Moore. She has many things to organize before moving while fundraising for set up funds and the Stott-Wallace Missionary Offering. Once Rev. Moore arrives in Haiti, she will learn the language and culture. She will confront challenges related to living comfortably and safely in Haiti. In addition to prayer for her ministry, you can support Rev. Moore through your offering to the Stott-Wallace Missionary Offering. Those funds cover all CP missionary salaries and benefits. The MMT needs to raise over $50,000 in set up funds to deploy Rev. Moore. Those funds include travel expenses, a vehicle, furniture, appliances, language learning, and legal fees. Once deployed, the Stott-Wallace Offering will be used to pay her salary and benefits. Prayerfully consider giving to her set up funds and being a faithful contributor to the Stott Wallace Missionary Offering.
