Ministry Council of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church elected member Amy Cresswell was recently selected as the Outstanding Junior Member of the Key Corner Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR). Amy proved her lineage to Patriot Andrew Hampton and joined the local Key Corner Chapter NSDAR in January 2021. The DAR boasts 190,000 members in 3,000 chapters across the United States and internationally.
Amy, her husband Jamey, and daughter Catherine are active members of the Dyersburg, Tennessee, First Cumberland Presbyterian Church (West Tennessee Presbytery). Amy founded and chairs the Circle of Ruth, part of the Cumberland Presbyterian Women’s Ministry. Amy also volunteers her talent in the music ministry.
“While promoting our goals of patriotism, education, and historical preservation is our focus, DAR is a service organization and Amy Cresswell is stellar on all accounts,” stated Chapter Regent Penny Switzer. “We are delighted to have our young members and to be able to recognize their achievements.”
Amy serves on the Dyersburg /Dyer County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. She also is the President of the Dyer County Leadership Alumni Association and oversaw the Downtown Dyersburg Mural Project. She is involved with the United Way of West Tennessee. She is also active in the Rhodes College Alumni Association.
Founded in 1890 and headquartered in Washington, D.C., the DAR is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women’s service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America’s future through better education for children. Any woman eighteen years or older who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution, is eligible for membership.
