A Prayer for Those Affected by the Destruction of Hurricane Laura
By Kristi Lounsbury
As the Psalmist tells us, your people can cry out to you in their distress and you will calm the storm (Psalm 107:28-29). Mighty God, we cry out to you now as we have many people hurting from the path of destruction of Hurricane Laura.
We cry out for those who have lost everything. We cry out for peace in the hearts of those who have lost loved ones. We cry out for strength for those who have been injured. We cry out for safety for the first responders. We cry out for patience for those who will have months, possibly years of rebuilding ahead of them. We cry out for wisdom and knowledge to know how to help those who have been affected by this storm.
We cry out to you, O God, to calm the storm. In Christ’s name, we pray. Amen.
