From the Desk of the Moderator 190th General Assembly
I am sure all of us have seen the overwhelming damage caused by tornadoes over this past weekend. As I watched videos, photos, and heard the stories, I felt numb and my heart became heavy. We have many people within our church who have been affected by this devastation. Church property and homes have been destroyed and even loss of life. There is never a good time for tragedy to happen but this holiday season will be dramatically different for some. Please join me in prayer for the individuals, churches and communities who are picking up the pieces around them. Please pray for those who are grieving the loss of loved ones. And let us pray for those whom God is sending to help.
Advent is a time when we are reminded that God brings light into the darkness. So let all of us join our hearts together in prayer for that light to pierce this darkness. And may we all be attentive to ways in which God might be calling us to help shine that light.
God bless you all and may God’s healing, hope, and Resurrection be with everyone affected by this tragedy.
