Murfreesboro Presbytery, April 15, 2023, Liberty Cumberland Presbyterian Church, McMinnville, Tennessee. Rev. Brent Wills, moderator. Rev. Dennis Croslin, vice moderator. Rev. Larry Green, pastor host. Rev. Perry Whitaker was received from Tennessee-Georgia Presbytery. Rev. Aaron Ferry granted his letter to Nashville Presbytery. Rev. Wyatt Stephens granted his letter to Cornerstone Presbytery. Rev. Judy Sides, by her request, added to the roll of Honorably Retired Ministers and her pastoral relationship with Mt. Vernon CPC dissolved. Candidate Greg Whaley was dropped from the roll by his request. Commissions to ordain and install Katie Ory (April 30, 2023, Cookeville CPC) and Andrea Muralanda-Gutierrez’s (May 7, 2023, Mufreesboro CPC) were appointed. Empowered the trustees to incorporate Murfreesboro Presbytery. Approved Rev. Dr. Joe Butler to serve as interim pastor for Goshen CPC and to moderate the session. Rev. Denny Shepherd appointed to moderate LaGuardo CPC session. Rev. Lisa Oliver appointed to moderate Mt. Vernon CPC session. Providence CPC was closed, records to be forwarded to the Historical Foundation. Reminded sessions to submit their minutes for review or forfeit their representation at presbytery.

Matthew H. Gore is a British journalist, historian, popular culturist, archivist, and educator residing in Memphis, Tennessee. He is the immediate past-president of the Society of Tennessee Archivists and is best known for his book The History of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Kentucky to 1988 (2000). He has also published on a variety of topics as diverse as The Origin of Marvelman (a British superhero of the 1950s and 1960s), the relative scarcity of East German philatelics, and the biography of British pulp artist, Denis McLoughlin. He is employed by the Ministry Council of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church at the Cumberland Presbyterian Center in Memphis, Tennessee, as editor of the Cumberland Presbyterian Magazine and as publications manager. He has been associated with both Western Kentucky University, which honored him with their James H. Poteet Award, and the University of Kentucky. He also serves as editor for all Boardman Books (Memphis, Tennessee) publications.
