Scientists have found that different kinds of light induce different responses. Interior designers use this information to make our homes and offices have the “feel” that we need for different environments. Warm, lower lighting makes us feel rested and has a homey kind of feeling. We use it in dens, bedrooms and dining room in our homes and break rooms at work. White light makes us feel more alert and productive. We use it in kitchens and study areas. There is a blue/white light that offices use in rooms where they need alertness for brainstorming and other creative spaces.
We often take light for granted. We rarely think about the utility company and how electricity is made and how it travels to get to our homes and offices. But when the lights go out, we really notice the darkness. It is often in the darkness we fall and hurt ourselves. It is also in the darkness of pain and sin that we are filled with fear, anguish and are hurting. Sometimes we may be the only light people may see. They may be in need of quiet light. Or maybe they need a bright, sunny light to cheer them and make them laugh. May we be the right light for ourselves and others at the right time.
Pray
Let there be light O Lord and may we be your light in the world. Amen.
Go with God.
