The idea of gratitude or thanks is remarkably close to praise in the vision of Isaiah. This is also an important part of Lent. In addition to recognizing that God is all things to us, we also realize that God has given everything to us. God has given us the world of which we are a part, the food we eat, the homes we live in and even the air that we breathe to stay alive. This fact is why we are looking at giving thanks to God this week.
Gratitude is such an important part of our lives that we even have a holiday for it—Thanksgiving! We at times give ourselves all the credit for what we have and what we do. But it is truly God who is the source of all good things.
So, let us be aware of what is going on around us so we might express our gratitude. It must be shared to make a difference. Express your gratitude this week!
Pray
Lord, we are too often unhappy. Help us to feel and express the great joy we have in you and your love. Amen.
Go with God.
