When I was a candidate for the ministry I was always nervous about preaching. It’s scary to go to churches that you’ve never been in, and you do not know anyone, and preach. It is part of the process of becoming a minister, so we do it. While I am still nervous every time I preach, it is a different nervousness. I used to be nervous because I wanted to seem competent and wise to people I didn’t know. Now I feel nervous because I realize I am bringing a message from God to people. It’s a different nervousness but still nervousness, but there is also confidence. My confidence comes from the fact that the Holy Spirit accompanies my feeble effort.
