Praise for God’s Surpassing Greatness
1 Praise the Lord!
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty firmament!
2 Praise him for his mighty deeds;
praise him according to his surpassing greatness!
3 Praise him with trumpet sound;
praise him with lute and harp!
4 Praise him with tambourine and dance;
praise him with strings and pipe!
5 Praise him with clanging cymbals;
praise him with loud clashing cymbals!
6 Let everything that breathes praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord!

“Praising God Is Easier Than We Think”
Focusing Idea: God is great all the time, not just on Sundays.
How often do we think about praising God outside of church on Sundays? The psalmist, in our Scripture for today, encourages us to praise God every day and in every part of our lives no matter how good or bad. We are to “Praise him for his mighty deeds; [and] praise him according to his surpassing greatness!” [verse 2] God is great all the time, not half the time or just on Sundays. Do we know that God values time with us and God cherishes it when we thank Him? God is great, not just in one thing, but in all things. Because God is great in all things, we can praise Him in every way.
There is no limit to how, when, or where we can praise God. Driving down the road in the car we can say, “God, thank You for allowing me to have a safe drive.” Or, hanging out with close friends, whisper, “God, thank You for surrounding me with people who care.” When we are going through a difficult season we can say, “God, thank You for teaching me and leading me through this.” Praising God in every circumstance gives us joy and pleases God. How are you doing with praising God? Do you take advantage of opportunities to praise Him in all circumstances? What is one thing you can thank God for today? What is one step you can take to make praising God a part of your everyday life?
Pray
“Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Praise Him, all creatures here below. Praise Him above, ye heavenly host. Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.” [Doxology]
