Prayer – Psalms 91 reminds us that God is our fortress and our refuge. We are not to fear the terror of night, pestilence, plague, or war. The Psalmist says that God loves us, that God hears those who acknowledge God’s name. Followers of Christ have the privilege to call on God’s name. We encourage all Cumberland Presbyterians to use this privilege – call on the Lord for peace. Pray that God opens the hearts of those in this European conflict to see the futility of war. Pray that humility replaces pride, mercy replaces anger, reconciliation replaces hostility, and that destruction is replaced with life.
Support – The Cumberland Presbyterian Church has no connection to Ukraine or Russia. We have mission work in the United Kingdom among Hong Kong refugees. We have several mission points in Spain, and one small mission in France. The rest of our work is in Asia and the Americas.
In the past, Missions Ministry Team has sent money to humanitarian organizations that meet needs in global crisis situations. We encourage Cumberland Presbyterians who want to donate to give to an organization that reflects your passion and interest. You might consider the organizations below (alphabetical order). We do not endorse these humanitarian organizations, but they are reputable.
- Church World Services (CWS) is providing help to Ukrainian refugees. This Christian organization has been around a long time and has a variety of permits, permissions, and staff to do different things around the world.
