Experience silence in the midst of your busy day. Take some time to relax into a time to be with God.

5 Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers and sisters, you do not need to have anything written to you. 2 For you yourselves know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3 When they say, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them, as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and there will be no escape! 4 But you, beloved, are not in darkness, for that day to surprise you like a thief; 5 for you are all children of light and children of the day; we are not of the night or of darkness. 6 So then let us not fall asleep as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober; 7 for those who sleep sleep at night, and those who are drunk get drunk at night. 8 But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, and put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation. 9 For God has destined us not for wrath but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep we may live with him. 11 Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, as indeed you are doing.
Reflect
End time prophecy has been discussed and debated for centuries. I remember waiting in a busy doctor’s office several years ago and as I looked around the waiting room, there were three people reading one of the books in the popular “Left Behind,” series. It seemed like at that time there were prophecy conferences and Bible studies going on in every community. Church leaders were debating when we would all be called up in the air. Every time a major world event would happen, some TV preacher would comment how it lined up with end time prophecy. People were always trying to pinpoint the date and time that Jesus would return for his church.
It seems that the focus of the church has shifted. End time prophecy books are collecting dust along with the WWJD bracelets and the Bible on cassette. We have moved on to other things. Trying to predict when God’s grand plan for the world will finally be revealed doesn’t fill the shelves of our book stores or the screens of out theaters, but Jesus is still coming back. Instead of trying to figure out when, it’s more important for us to live like it’s today. The signs are all around us and it’s time for us to do as one minister stated, “We need to stop looking for signs and start listening for trumpets.”
Pray
God help us to keep attentive to the days and times. We do not want to be found unaware. Amen
