1 Praise the Lord.
Praise the name of the Lord;
praise him, you servants of the Lord,
2 you who minister in the house of the Lord,
in the courts of the house of our God.
3 Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good;
sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant.
4 For the Lord has chosen Jacob to be his own,
Israel to be his treasured possession.
5 I know that the Lord is great,
that our Lord is greater than all gods.
6 The Lord does whatever pleases him,
in the heavens and on the earth,
in the seas and all their depths.
7 He makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth;
he sends lightning with the rain
and brings out the wind from his storehouses.
8 He struck down the firstborn of Egypt,
the firstborn of people and animals.
9 He sent his signs and wonders into your midst, Egypt,
against Pharaoh and all his servants.
10 He struck down many nations
and killed mighty kings—
11 Sihon king of the Amorites,
Og king of Bashan,
and all the kings of Canaan—
12 and he gave their land as an inheritance,
an inheritance to his people Israel.
13 Your name, Lord, endures forever,
your renown, Lord, through all generations.
14 For the Lord will vindicate his people
and have compassion on his servants.
Reflect
Have you ever really looked at the things that you have in life and began to rejoice? Think about it just for a moment if you would. If you have food to eat, a place to sleep, and clothes to wear then ladies and gentlemen you have a reason to rejoice. And if you do not have any of these things remember that you still have the best gift known to humankind. And that one thing is called life, a chance to share the love of Jesus Christ with all who you come in contact with.
In today’s passage Psalm 135 we read about praising God. In reality, this entire passage is about giving God praise. In other words, we are learning about giving God thanks for the things that he has done and is doing for us in our lives.
Let us not forget that if it had not been for God we would not have any of the things that we have today. We would not have overcome the struggles that we went through so far in life. And if
you are going through it right now remember God will bring you through it. So with that being known praise him in advance because your blessing is on the way.
Pray
Dear God thank you for our many blessings that you have given us in life. And thank you for the blessing that you will be bringing us. For we do not take them for granted but give you all the praise and glory. In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit Amen.
Go with God!
