Codie Austin Clark of Sharon, Tennessee, was arrested April 7, 2021, on one count of Arson of a Place of Worship for setting a fire on Easter Sunday at the New Salem Cumberland Presbyterian Church along Highway 89 in Sharon (West Tennessee Presbytery), according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. With the assistance of the Dresden, Tennessee, Fire Department, TBI agents determined the fire had been intentionally set and Clark was the individual responsible. The Dresden Fire Department had been conducting an internal investigation involving Clark, a former firefighter, following a series of recent fires.
