The Reverend Wallace Wade Acton, 90, (Grace Presbytery) of Glencoe, Alabama, died March 24, 2021. Wade was born August 21, 1930 in Sterrett, Alabama, near Birmingham, to the Reverend Armon Clarence Acton and Thelma May White Acton. After Thelma’s death, Armon married Ruth Harper when Wade was sixteen. Wade had seven siblings. He attended Cahaba Heights Elementary School and Vincent High School. In 1943, he became a Christian and joined Elliottsville Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Wade came under the care of Gadsden Presbytery in 1956. He married Christine Weldon in 1959 and was ordained by New Hope Presbytery in 1960.
Wade served many churches over a long career including Clear Creek and Oldham Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Churches in Gadsden Presbytery, McClouds Chapel (Brooksville, Mississippi) in New Hope Presbytery, Wingo (Kentucky) in Mayfield Presbytery, Lebanon (Tennessee) in Murfreesboro Presbytery, Glencoe and East Gadsden (Alabama) in Gadsden Presbytery, and Piedmont (Alabama) in Grace Presbytery. In Tallapoosa County, Alabama, where Wade resided for many years, he served Sardis Baptist Church, First Presbyterian Church of Dadeville (PCUSA), and Woods Presbyterian Church (PCUSA).
Wade’s surviving siblings include the Reverend Donald Walton Acton (Presbytery of East Tennessee) and the Reverend Lawrence Martin Acton (United Methodist Church).
