Nyang Wek, a Sudanese Cumberland Presbyterian who has attended both Faith Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Germantown in West Tennessee Presbytery, is a power forward on the South Sudanese National Basketball Team which, in February 2021, qualified for the FIBA AfroBasket 2021 Tournament. FIBA is the International Basketball Federation, headquartered in Switzerland, which has sponsored the generally quadrennial FIBA Basketball World Cup since 1950. AfroBasket is a qualifying event for the 2023 World Cup tournament.
