Read
Psalm 111
Reflect
After reading Psalm 111, I wanted to offer God praise for the mighty acts the psalmist recalls and yet at the same I also felt the need to stop and offer God praise for the mighty acts in my life and the worshipping community I serve.
The psalmist reminds us while praise can be expressed individually, praise is also expressed by the body of Christ in worship. My personal faith is strengthen when I gather with God’s people and sing the great hymns of the faith and praise God.
There is a huge wall hanging on my office wall which quotes not only a verse of scripture from Lamentations but a line from one of the great hymns of faith. Great is thy Faithfulness.
The theological dimension of this hymn calls us to praise God for the faithfulness and the peace we receive from God. God’s faithfulness offers us hope for faith journey.
So let praise God this day and every day! Praise God from all blessings flow.
Pray
God, we thank You for the psalmist who calls us to remember Your faithfulness and steadfast love. May we awake every morning and remember “morning by morning, new mercies I see, All I have needed thy hand hath provide, Great is Thy Faithfulness, Lord unto me, Praise God.” Amen
Go with God!
