Focus
Slow your breathing and become aware of the taking in and letting out of your breath. Focus on putting things aside so you will be open to what God is saying to you today.

2 In those days a decree went out from Emperor Augustus that all the world should be registered. 2 This was the first registration and was taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3 All went to their own towns to be registered. 4 Joseph also went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was descended from the house and family of David. 5 He went to be registered with Mary, to whom he was engaged and who was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child. 7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.
Reflect
It is Christmas Eve. The most blessed of nights. The night that we stop and reflect on the birth of a child. And not just any child – THE Child of God, THE Son of Man, THE King of Kings, THE Lord of Lords, THE Beginning and the End, THE Alpha and Omega – and we call Him Jesus.
I was thinking about where Jesus was born – in the city of Bethlehem, but more specifically, He was born in a stable. I would have thought that once the innkeeper saw the condition Mary was in he would have made a space for her in the inn. I also would have thought that some nearby neighbor would have seen Mary and Joseph being rejected at the inn and would have offered them some type of comfortable lodging for the upcoming birth. Perhaps it was meant for Jesus to be born just as He was, to show all that He came humbly for all – the clean and the unclean. No one can say they are not good enough for the Love of Jesus the Christ.
Pray
Lord God, we pause just for a moment to give reverence to the One who was born in a stable so many years ago. Lord, thank you again for allowing Your Son to come to earth to show us THE way to You! In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen!
Go with God!
