A Song of Ascents.
1 Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion,
which cannot be moved, but abides forever.
2 As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
so the Lord surrounds his people,
from this time on and forevermore.
3 For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest
on the land allotted to the righteous,
so that the righteous might not stretch out
their hands to do wrong.
4 Do good, O Lord, to those who are good,
and to those who are upright in their hearts.
5 But those who turn aside to their own crooked ways
the Lord will lead away with evildoers.
Peace be upon Israel!
Reflect
“Do you trust me?” a father asked his daughter. “Yes Dad.” she responded. “Do you really trust me?” he asked again. “Dad, you know I trust you.” she quickly said. “Ok, then let me create for you a place to study at home.” he said. To this she quickly responded, “What do you mean?” “Do you trust me?” he quickly asked. “Yes Dad, I trust you”, she responded in a cautious tone. “Ok, then will you let me do what I need to do to create for you a place to study at home?” he asked. “Yes,” she replied. At that point she simply found herself sitting there in amazement as her father proceeded to take her phone, her tablet, and even the TV out of her room. When he was finished, he turned to her and spoke in a calm voice, “You are a good student, but even a good student cannot be at their best with all of this distraction around them. Now you can succeed. Now you can overcome the difficulty of this situation.” After a moment, the daughter said, “Thank you for always being there for me dad.” “Thank you for trusting me,” the father spoke as he surrounded his daughter with his arms and gave her a hug that simply said, “I am here.””
Pray
God, You love everyone, and yet the good You can do is tied to the trust that we have in You. We ask You to strengthen our faith, to strength our trust, and to show us how You are able to surround those that trust in You with Your presence. Help us to live within Your will, and Your church, and find the life that moves with Your guidance beyond the distractions of this world. Amen.
