Focus
Slow your breathing and become aware of the taking in and letting out of your breath. Focus on putting things aside so you will be open to what God is saying to you today.

Psalm 34:1-10
Of David, when he feigned madness before Abimelech, so that he drove him out, and he went away.
1 I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 My soul makes its boast in the Lord;
let the humble hear and be glad.
3 O magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt his name together.
4 I sought the Lord, and he answered me,
and delivered me from all my fears.
5 Look to him, and be radiant;
so your faces shall never be ashamed.
6 This poor soul cried, and was heard by the Lord,
and was saved from every trouble.
7 The angel of the Lord encamps
around those who fear him, and delivers them.
8 O taste and see that the Lord is good;
happy are those who take refuge in him.
9 O fear the Lord, you his holy ones,
for those who fear him have no want.
10 The young lions suffer want and hunger,
but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.
Reflect
Several years ago, I served as the worship leader at church camp and the closing song I used one evening included the phrase, “I will bless the Lord.” Following the service, one of the adult staff members came up to me and said, “How can we possibly bless the Lord??? It is the Lord who blesses us!!!” Though the staff member’s words initially hit me as a criticism of my song selection, they eventually made me stop and wonder – how can we possibly bless the One who sees that we lack no good thing?
As a parent, I see that my children have everything they need: how do they bless me? I am blessed when they are obedient, when they are kind, when they give grace, and when they use their words to encourage others. I am blessed when they do the right thing even when they think no one is watching them. I am blessed when they come to me with their fears and concerns. Likewise, our Heavenly Father is blessed when our words, our actions, and our reactions reflect His love, His will, and His heart.
Pray
Lord, thank you for providing everything we need and for blessing us daily. Help us to live in a way that blesses You. Amen
