Focus
Prepare yourself to discern what is and what is not of God today. Still yourself so you can hear how God is calling you.

Psalm 23
1 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures;
he leads me beside still waters;
3 he restores my soul.
He leads me in right paths
for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley,
I fear no evil;
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff—
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
my whole life long.
Reflect
Goodness and mercy are not common concepts in our society today. Showing mercy is often seen as a sign of weakness. Being tactful and nice don’t get things done like yelling, screaming and “telling it like it is” often does. Take no prisoners, show no mercy are the battle cry of many in society.
God tells us that goodness and mercy will follow us wherever we go. Mercy is a big concept with me. I have always said I didn’t want justice from God, for justice would bring punishment and pain. I seek God’s mercy because mercy brings forgiveness and love. Mercy, especially God’s mercy, looks beyond the reason and the action to see change, growth and love. Mercy looks for possibilities rather than just actions. Thankful, mercy says you are home with me. Mercy says you are no longer a stranger. God says “I have called you and made you mine.” That is the goodness and mercy I want following me all the days of my life.
Pray
God of all goodness and mercy, help us to be your ambassadors of mercy. Let us look beyond the appearance to see what is true, what is loving and what is from you.
Go with God!
