Psalm 18
To the leader. A Psalm of David the servant of the Lord, who addressed the words of this song to the Lord on the day when the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. He said:
1 I love you, O Lord, my strength.
2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer,
my God, my rock in whom I take refuge,
my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
3 I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised,
so I shall be saved from my enemies.

BLOOD
I love you, O Lord, my strength.
For many years now, my husband and I have regularly donated blood. The act of giving a part of myself for the good of those who are ill has always given me great satisfaction. Several years ago, I was told of the great benefits that platelets are, especially for breast cancer patients. This inspired me to stare donating platelets every two or three weeks. Each time I donate, I think God for all of my blessings, good health, strength from the Lord, so that I can continue this ministry of giving. Blood is the very essence of life, a miracle within our bodies.
Think of the complexity and simplicity of a life sustaining liquid carried about in our bodies, feeding each cell, healing and rejuvenating every fiber of our physical body, and we have more than enough for our own needs, so that we can share this life with others who don’t happen to have enough at this time. Sort of a symbol of the Christian life, isn’t it? Sounds sort of like what Jesus calls us to do in every aspect of our following him.
Pray
Lord, thank you for being our strength, for health of mind and body, for good, life-sustaining blood. Thank you for the amazing design of our blood system that we so often take for granted.
Go with God!
