John Clifford Dougherty III, 77, of Jefferson, Texas, died July 20, 2020. John was a serving elder for the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Jefferson, Texas (Trinity Presbytery). John served as an elder delegate to Trinity Presbytery most every time the presbytery met. He served on Trinity Presbytery’s Committee on Probationers, helping with the guidance and discernment of Ministerial Candidates. He also served more than once as an elder commissioner to Mission Synod, representing Trinity Presbytery. John also served as an elder commissioner to the General Assembly of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

John was born August 5, 1942 in Shreveport, Louisiana to John C. and Helen Dougherty Jr. He was a dedicated and skilled machinist at Bell Helicopter in Fort Worth and retired from there after 38 years of service. He was extremely proud of his 45 years as a Mason and had served as Worshipful Master of Jefferson Lodge 38.
