Focus
Slow your breathing and become aware of the taking in and letting out of your breath. Focus on putting things aside so you will be open to what God is saying to you today.

Psalm 8 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
O Lord, our Sovereign,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory above the heavens.
2 Out of the mouths of babes and infants
you have founded a bulwark because of your foes,
to silence the enemy and the avenger.
3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars that you have established;
4 what are human beings that you are mindful of them,
mortals that you care for them?
5 Yet you have made them a little lower than God,
and crowned them with glory and honor.
6 You have given them dominion over the works of your hands;
you have put all things under their feet,
7 all sheep and oxen,
and also the beasts of the field,
8 the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea,
whatever passes along the paths of the seas.
9 O Lord, our Sovereign,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
Reflect
All of us want to be needed. We all have an eternal desire to contribute something of significance. But there are times in our life when we are on the bench instead of being in the game. We feel pushed aside, not appreciated, and ineffective. Psalm 8 is a song of praise to God but also a psalm that reinforces the dignity of mankind. Today, we will wonder at the majesty of God and tomorrow discuss the dignity of man.
Psalm 8 begins with a declaration of praise, ”O Lord, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth!”. David is celebrating the supreme power of God over everything. The whole creation is showing the majesty and glory of God. Even infants are able to proclaim God’s glory. The psalmist is saying that God’s glory can be found in the love of the powerless. There is something comforting about the thought that it does not take power or ability to earn God’s love. He loves us regardless. We are special to him no matter what happens. We can be as weak as a newborn and still glorify God!
Pray
O Lord, our Sovereign,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
We are grateful for your wonderful love and amazing grace. Lets us today look for your glory around us and enjoy the richness of your love. We pray in Jesus name. Amen
