A Prayer for Those Affected and Infected with CoViD-19

God of mercy, we cry out to you as the Great Healer.
As we begin the long days and ongoing nights of isolation, we know you say to us, “For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, ‘Fear not, I am the one who helps you’” (Isaiah 41:3). Let us not be fearful.
We pray for peace in our hearts and understanding in our heads as we rely on you and we are reassured that, “The Lord is our rock and our fortress and our deliverer, our God, our rock, in whom we take refuge, our shield, and the horn of our salvation, our stronghold (Psalm 18:2). Help us to take refuge in your words, God.
When we cry out and ask, “How long, O God, how long?” You answer to us, “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). Keep us patient and understanding.
For those who are ill with this virus, God we encourage them to “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. God will not leave you or forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:6). Give us a measure of your strength, dear God.
As we all experience anxiety and fear for the unknown, help us to remember to “Cast all our anxieties on you, because Christ cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7). Calm our spirits and may the Holy Spirit be a great Comforter to us all.
In Jesus’ name, we pray.
Amen.
