For the last two years, Comeback Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Wallington, New Jersey (Cumberland East Coast Presbytery) has provided food for 50-70 homeless people every Monday at the Port Authority Terminal on 42nd Street in Manhattan, New York City.
According to pastor Douglas Park, “This is one of our ministry for city missions,” and, “the elderly people in the daycare center where I preach are also helping with donations.”
Besides food, the congregation dreams of operating a rehabilitation or mission center which could help the homeless reenter mainstream society.
Last winter, a homeless man who was listening to the sermon was crying because he misses his home. That made him call his home and the family was very happy with his call. There was a marvelous event that brought a homeless person going back to his home.
